Dear Sierra Lakes Families, 

We are thrilled to welcome you back to what promises to be an exciting and successful school year at Sierra Lakes Elementary! We are delighted to welcome all children (our scholars) to our school community. Our dedicated staff is committed to ensuring that each one of them feels valued, supported, and cared for. We celebrate them and strive to create a space where each and every one of them can thrive and reach their full potential.

Our first day of school is Monday, August 5, 2024, and we can't wait to see all our Sharktastic scholars back on campus. 

First Day of School – August 5, 2024: 

• Gates Open: 7:15 AM 
• Free Breakfast: Available for all students starting at 7:15 AM in the cafeteria. Please note that only school staff and students are permitted in the cafeteria during breakfast time. 
• First Day Walk to Classroom Door: Families are welcome to walk their students to their classroom door from 7:15-7:40 AM. We encourage everyone to be safe, respectful, and friendly during this time. All non-staff and non-students will need to leave by 7:40 AM so our teachers can begin their day. 
• Free Lunch: Available for all students at their designated grade-level time in the cafeteria. Families may opt to send lunch with their children, if preferred.
• Dismissal: 2:20 PM Every day except – See dismissal procedure below.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up (Dismissal) – Beginning, Tuesday, August 6, 2024: 

• Main Driveway (Avenal Pl. Entrance): For Kinder, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students. Entrance is through the Silver Gate. There are two lanes. The right lane is for dropping off students. The left lane is for driving past the drop-off area to the parent parking lot which is south of the staff parking lot.
• Citrus Ave Driveway: For 4th and 5th grade students. 
• Dismissal Time: 2:20 PM for all students. Pick-up will be at the same location as drop-off, with one exception: Kindergarten pick-up will be at the Red Gate instead of the Silver Gate. 

Please exercise extreme caution when driving through our driveways and when dropping off and picking up students. Ensure you use the designated spots adjacent to the sidewalk for dropping off and picking up students.  

Traffic Advisory: Expect more traffic than usual during the first few days of school. Please give yourselves extra time to navigate the increased traffic. Our School Police will be here to welcome everyone back and to help keep us safe.

As a reminder, our Back to School Night has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm for students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Back to School Night – Wednesday, August 7, 2024: 

• Content of Meeting:  Our Teachers will be sharing important information on classroom expectations, logistics, learning standards/goals, homework and ways to maintain strong parent-teacher communication as well as how parents can support learning at home.
• Agenda for the Evening:  
  • Principal Welcome                     5:00 to 5:05 pm            (In classroom via intercom)

• Teacher Session1                       5:05 to 5:30 pm
• Teacher Session2                       5:35 to 6:00 pm

Session 1 & 2 are the same - Families need only attend one
